of <h1>Central Government Exempts Goods From Higher Education Cess; Later Rescinds Exemption Effective March 1, 2015.</h1> The Central Government, utilizing its authority under the Central Excise Act, 1944, and the Finance Act, 2007, has exempted all goods listed in the Tenth Schedule of the Finance Act, 2010, from the Higher Education Cess. This exemption, announced through Notification No. 29/2010-CX dated June 22, 2010, was deemed necessary in the public interest. However, this exemption was later rescinded by Notification No. 17/2015, effective March 1, 2015.
