of <h1>India Amends Customs Duty: Acetate Rayon Tow for Cigarette Filters Exempt, Subject to Compliance with 1996 Rules</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance, has issued Notification No. 55/2010-Customs, amending the earlier Notification No. 20/2006-Customs dated March 1, 2006. This amendment prescribes effective duty rates for goods under the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. Specifically, it introduces a new entry for acetate rayon tow used in the manufacture of cigarette filter rods, which is exempted from duty, provided the importer complies with the Customs (Import of Goods at Concessional Rate of Duty For Manufacture of Excisable Goods) Rules, 1996. This amendment is deemed necessary in the public interest.
