of <h1>Central Government Amends Post Office Savings Account Rules: Deposits Rounded to Nearest 5 Paise Under Rule 5(7)</h1> The Central Government, exercising its authority under the Government Savings Bank Act of 1873, has issued the Post Office Savings Account (Third Amendment) Rules, 1989. Effective upon publication in the Official Gazette, the amendment modifies the Post Office Savings Account Rules of 1981. Specifically, sub-rule (7) of rule 5 is revised to state that deposits not in multiples of 5 paise will be rounded up to the nearest multiple of five paise.
