of <h1>India Establishes Approval Committee for MEPZ SEZ with Key Officials from Commerce, Customs, Income-Tax, and Tamil Nadu Industries.</h1> The Central Government of India has established the Approval Committee for the MEPZ Special Economic Zone under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005. This committee includes the Development Commissioner of the MEPZ SEZ as the Chairperson and several ex-officio members: a Director or Deputy Secretary from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Zonal Joint Director General of Foreign Trade in Chennai, the Commissioner of Customs Airport in Chennai, the Commissioner of Income-Tax with jurisdiction over the SEZ, a Director from the Ministry of Finance's Banking Division, the Secretary of the Industries Department of Tamil Nadu, and the Director of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Guidance and Export Promotion Bureau.
