<h1>Customs Duty Exemption for Fuel-Efficient Vehicle Components Until December 31, 1990, Under Customs Act 1962</h1> The Central Government, under the Customs Act, 1962, exempts components of fuel-efficient four-wheeled cross-country motor vehicles from certain customs duties. The exemption applies to the excess of 25% ad valorem duty and the entire additional duty under the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. Conditions include that components must be imported by manufacturers for warranty or after-sales service, certified by designated officials. Fuel-efficient vehicles are defined as petrol vehicles achieving at least 15 km/l and diesel vehicles achieving at least 20 km/l, verified through specific testing procedures. This notification is effective until December 31, 1990.
