Rescission of exemption notification: government invokes statutory power to revoke a prior customs exemption in public interest. The Central Government, invoking the power under sub section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962, rescinds the earlier Ministry of Finance exemption notification No. 179/85 Customs dated 27th May, 1985, having been satisfied that rescission is necessary in the public interest and formally withdrawing that notification.
