of <h1>Govt Revises Customs Duty: Waste & Scrap at 85% Ad Valorem, Others at 60%, Effective January 2, 1986</h1> The Central Government, under section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962, has amended Notification No. 44/83-Customs dated March 1, 1983, to adjust customs duties on certain items. Specifically, for Heading No. 78.01, the duty for waste and scrap is set at 85% ad valorem, while others are at 60% ad valorem. Additionally, the duty against Sl. No. 2 and Sl. No. 5 is revised to 85% ad valorem. These changes are deemed necessary in the public interest and are effective as of January 2, 1986.
