<h1>Government Reduces Customs Duties on Imported Wines and Spirits Under Section 25(1) of Customs Act, 1962</h1> The Central Government, under Section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962, has issued an exemption notification (No. 44/86-Cus) dated February 17, 1986. This notification reduces customs duties on specific wines and spirituous beverages imported into India, as listed in the annexed table. The duty rates are specified as Rs. 45 per litre for sparkling wines, Rs. 30 per litre for other wines, 100% ad valorem for grape must and vermouth, and Rs. 60 per litre or 170% ad valorem (whichever is higher) plus Rs. 5 per litre for liqueurs and other spirituous beverages. This notification takes effect on February 28, 1986.
