<h1>Section 25(1) Customs Act: Exemption on Sulphur and Mineral Phosphates Import Duty Effective from 1986</h1> The Central Government, under Section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962, exempts certain goods from excess customs duty when imported into India. This applies to sulphur (excluding insoluble sulphur) under heading 25.03, which will incur a 10% ad valorem duty, and mineral phosphates used as fertilizers under heading 25.10, which are exempt from duty. This exemption notification, numbered 45/86-Cus, is effective from February 28, 1986, as per the Customs Tariff Act, 1975.
