This exemption applies to goods listed in Chapter 29 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, including various chemical compounds such as toluene ortho sulphonic acid and its derivatives, ortho-sulpho benzoic acid, and several sweetening agents. The notification, numbered 47/86-Cus, is effective from February 28, 1986, and aims to support the public interest by reducing the cost of importing these materials for saccharine production.
