of <h1>Govt exempts certain saccharine production materials from customs duty over Rs. 20/kg under Customs Act, 1962, Chapter 29.</h1> The Central Government, under the Customs Act, 1962, exempts certain goods used in the manufacture of saccharine from customs duty exceeding Rs. 20 per kilogram. This exemption applies to goods listed in Chapter 29 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, including various chemical compounds such as toluene ortho sulphonic acid and its derivatives, ortho-sulpho benzoic acid, and several sweetening agents. The notification, numbered 47/86-Cus, is effective from February 28, 1986, and aims to support the public interest by reducing the cost of importing these materials for saccharine production.
