<h1>Govt Exempts Mercury & Bleaching Agents from Excess Customs Duty Under Section 25(1) of Customs Act</h1> The Central Government, under the powers of Section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962, has issued Notification No. 46/86-Cus dated 17-2-1986, exempting certain goods from excess customs duty. The goods specified include mercury (excluding certain high-purity grades in small containers) and bleaching paste and powder, each subject to a 60% ad valorem duty rate. These exemptions apply to goods falling under specific sub-headings of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. This notification will take effect on February 28, 1986.
