<h1>India Exempts Certain Fertilizers from Customs Duty Under Section 25(1) to Lower Import Costs, Effective February 28, 1986.</h1> The Central Government, under Section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962, has issued Notification No. 49/86-Cus dated February 17, 1986, exempting certain fertilizers and chemicals from customs duty. The exempted goods, listed in Chapter 31 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, include guano and other natural fertilizers not chemically treated, sodium nitrate with up to 16.3% nitrogen, and potassium sulphate with up to 52% composite fertilizers. This exemption will be effective from February 28, 1986, aiming to benefit public interest by reducing the cost of importing these goods into India.
