of <h1>Central Government Exempts Optical Glass from Full Customs Duty Under Section 25(1) of Customs Act, 1962</h1> Notification No. 59/86-Cus, dated February 17, 1986, issued by the Central Government under Section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962, exempts optical glass and elements of optical glass, not optically worked, from a portion of the customs duty. These items, classified under Chapter 70 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, will be subject to a reduced duty rate of 60% ad valorem when imported into India. This exemption is deemed necessary in the public interest and becomes effective on February 28, 1986.
