<h1>Govt exempts metallic ores and concentrates from customs duty exceeding 40% ad valorem, effective Feb 28, 1986.</h1> The Central Government, under the Customs Act, 1962, has issued Notification No. 78/86-Cus dated February 17, 1986, granting an exemption on customs duty for metallic ores and concentrates, except those of antimony, tungsten, and zinc. These items, classified under Chapter 26 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, are exempted from the portion of customs duty exceeding 40% ad valorem. This exemption is deemed necessary in the public interest and will take effect from February 28, 1986.
