of <h1>Customs Duty on Hot Briquetted Iron Reduced to 5% for Electric Arc Furnace Imports Until June 30, 1986.</h1> The Central Government, under the authority of the Customs Act, 1962, has issued a notification exempting hot briquetted iron (HBI) from certain customs duties. This exemption applies when HBI is imported into India by or on behalf of an electric arc furnace unit. The exemption reduces the customs duty to 5% ad valorem and waives the additional duty under section 3 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. This notification is effective until June 30, 1986.
