of <h1>Central Government Amends Customs Notifications: Duty Increase, Deadline Extensions, and Description Changes Under Customs Act 1962.</h1> The Central Government, under the Customs Act, 1962, has amended three customs notifications to serve public interest. The amendments include: for Notification No. 151-Customs (dated July 15, 1977), the omission of a proviso and certain entries, and a substitution in usage description; for Notification No. 2-Customs (dated January 1, 1979), the extension of a deadline from December 31, 1986, to May 31, 1987; and for Notification No. 255/86-Customs (dated April 17, 1986), an increase in ad valorem duty from 5% to 20% and a similar deadline extension.
