<h1>Government Exempts Certain Power Project Imports from Customs Duty under Notification No. 67/87-Cus; Supersedes Previous Notification</h1> The Central Government, under the powers granted by the Customs Act, 1962, has issued Notification No. 67/87-Cus dated March 1, 1987, to exempt certain goods imported for power projects from a portion of customs duty. This notification supersedes the previous notification No. 133/85-Customs dated April 19, 1985. The exemption applies to goods under heading 98.01 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. Power projects with a capacity of 50 MW and below are subject to a 35% ad valorem duty, while other power projects face a 25% ad valorem duty. Captive power plants for non-power generation activities are excluded.
