Customs Act Amendment: 31 Leather Processing Machines Exempt from Duties to Boost Industry Growth and Efficiency
The Central Government, under the Customs Act, 1962, has amended its previous notification to exempt specific machines used in the leather processing and finishing industry from customs duties. Effective from March 1, 1987, the amendment includes a comprehensive list of machinery such as clicking board levelling machines, skiving machines, heat setting plants, and various others, totaling 31 different types of equipment. These exemptions aim to support the leather industry by reducing the financial burden on importing essential machinery, thereby promoting growth and efficiency within the sector.
