of <h1>India Amends Excise Duty Rates for EOUs, EHTP, and STP Goods Cleared to DTA; Effective August 31, 2009</h1> The Government of India has issued Notification No. 24/2009-Central Excise, amending Notification No. 23/2003-Central Excise, concerning excise exemptions for Export Oriented Units (EOUs), Electronic Hardware Technology Parks (EHTP), and Software Technology Parks (STP) on goods cleared to the Domestic Tariff Area (DTA). Effective from August 31, 2009, the amendments include changes to the excise duty rates in the notification's table: for item 8, the duty is now in excess of Rs. 500 per 10 grams, and for item 10, it is in excess of Rs. 1000 per kilogram.
