<h1>Customs Act Amendment: Exemption for Waste Materials in Garment Manufacturing Updated by Notification No. 201/87-Customs</h1> The Central Government, under the authority of the Customs Act, 1962, has amended Notification No. 340/86-Cus through Notification No. 201/87-Customs, dated May 11, 1987. This amendment pertains to the exemption of certain waste materials, specifically rags, trimmings, and tailor cuttings generated during the manufacture of readymade garments. These materials, when cleared from the Zone, are exempted, provided they do not exceed the percentage set by the Cochin Export Processing Zone Board. This amendment is deemed necessary in the public interest.
