of <h1>Government Amends Customs Notifications for Public Welfare: Changes to Magnetic Tapes and Import Duty Rates Under Section 25(1)</h1> The Central Government, under the authority of section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962, has amended three previous notifications in the interest of public welfare. Notification No. 49/84-Cus. now specifies 'magnetic tapes for sound recording' instead of 'magnetic tape.' Notification No. 344/86-Cus. has had Sl. No. 1 and related entries removed. Notification No. 188/87-Cus. has been revised to adjust the customs duty on certain imports to a rate of 50% ad valorem, replacing the previous wording. These amendments aim to update and clarify the customs tariff regulations.
