<h1>Customs Act Update: Deputy Secretary Now Authorized Instead of Joint Secretary in Notifications 502/86-Cus and 503/86-Cus</h1> The Central Government, under section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962, has amended Notifications No. 502/86-Cus. and No. 503/86-Cus. as detailed in Notification No. 250/87-Cus. dated June 29, 1987. For Notification No. 502/86-Cus., the amendment removes the requirement for an officer not below the rank of a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Industry and replaces 'Joint Secretary' with 'Deputy Secretary' in the Explanation. Similarly, in Notification No. 503/86-Cus., 'Joint Secretary' is replaced with 'Deputy Secretary' in the Explanation.
