Customs Act Amendment Expands Duty Exemption to Include All Magnetic Tapes Under Section 25 for Public Benefit.
The Central Government has amended Notification No. 232/87-Cus, dated June 5, 1987, under the Customs Act, 1962. The amendment changes the wording in the original notification related to magnetic tapes. Previously, the notification specified 'magnetic tapes other than those for sound recording.' The amendment now replaces this phrase with 'magnetic tapes,' thus broadening the scope of the exemption to include all magnetic tapes. This change is made in the public interest under the powers conferred by section 25 of the Customs Act.
