of <h1>Customs Tariff Rate Cut from 65% to 40% in Public Interest per Section 25(1) of Customs Act, 1962</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 122/78-Cus, dated June 21, 1978, under the Customs Act, 1962. This amendment, effective from September 30, 1988, involves a change in the customs tariff rate. The ad valorem duty rate specified in the original notification is reduced from '65 per cent' to '40 per cent.' This amendment is enacted in the public interest, as per the powers granted under section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962.
