Customs duty exemption for imported X ray phosphor permits reduced duty rate on imports for manufacture of intensifying screens. The Central Government exempts X ray phosphor, classifiable under Chapter 28 or Chapter 32 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, when imported into India for manufacture of X ray intensifying screens, from so much of the basic customs duty specified in the First Schedule as exceeds 45 per cent ad valorem.
