Exemption from customs duty for specified amino acids permits preferential import treatment where used in poultry feed manufacture. The Central Government exempts imports of amino acids L Lysine and DL Methionine for manufacture of poultry feeds by capping the basic customs duty at a specified ad valorem rate and waiving the additional duty otherwise leviable, under powers granted by the Customs statute.
