of <h1>Govt Amends Notification No. 28/87-Cus.; Increases Duty on Glazed Newsprint to 30% Ad Valorem Under Customs Act, 1962.</h1> Notification No. 49/89-Cus., dated March 1, 1989, amends Notification No. 28/87-Cus. to increase the duty on glazed newsprint. Under the authority of the Customs Act, 1962, the Central Government has decided, in the public interest, to revise the duty from a fixed rate of Rs. 550 per tonne to a rate of 30 percent ad valorem. This amendment reflects the government's decision to adjust the customs tariff on glazed newsprint to better align with current economic conditions.
