of <h1>Customs Duty Exemption on High-Speed Jute Looms: Importers Must Provide Jute Commissioner Certificate for Eligibility</h1> Notification No. 152/89-Cus, dated April 27, 1989, issued under the Customs Act, 1962, grants exemption on modern automatic high-speed circular looms for jute, classified under Chapter 84 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. The exemption applies to the customs duty exceeding 35% ad valorem and the entire additional duty under section 3 of the Customs Tariff Act. To qualify, importers must present a certificate from the Jute Commissioner confirming their status as actual users engaged in jute product manufacturing and their registration with the Jute Commissioner at the time of clearance.
