<h1>Government Updates Customs Act: New Duty Rates for Chemicals in Notifications 77/86-Cus. & 136/86-Cus.</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification Nos. 77/86-Cus. and 136/86-Cus. under the Customs Act, 1962, through Notification No. 178/89-Cus. dated June 1, 1989, citing public interest. For Notification No. 77/86-Cus., the entry for Sl. No. 18 in the annexed table is now '80% ad valorem.' For Notification No. 136/86-Cus., a new entry, Sl. No. 53EE, has been added, listing specific chemicals such as dioctyl phthalate and dibutyl maleate, also subject to '80% ad valorem' duty.
