of <h1>Customs Duties on Automobiles Increased to Support Domestic Industry; Changes Under Section 66 of Customs Act, 1962.</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 522/86-Cus. to support the domestic automobile industry by increasing customs duties. The amendment changes the ad valorem duty rates in sub-clause (i) of clause (a) from 25% to 35% and in sub-clause (i) of clause (b) from 70% to 80%. Additionally, the effective date in paragraph 2 is extended from June 30, 1989, to June 30, 1990. These changes are made under the authority of section 66 of the Customs Act, 1962.
