<h1>Customs Act Amendment: Duty-Free Clearance for Goods with Valid Pass Book at Specified Locations and Ports</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 117/88-Customs, dated March 30, 1988, under the Customs Act, 1962. The amendment allows goods imported under an Open General Licence, issued under the Imports and Exports (Control) Act, 1947, to be cleared duty-free if a valid Pass Book is presented at the time of clearance. This facility applies to imports through specified Customs ports, airports, or Inland Container Depots. Additionally, duty-free clearance from warehouses is permitted only at specified locations: Kandla, Calcutta, Bombay, Cochin, Madras, Visakhapatnam, Delhi, or Bangalore.
