of <h1>Customs Duty on Paper Revised: From 30% Ad Valorem to Rs. 550/Tonne Under Chapter 48, Effective January 1990.</h1> The Central Government, under the authority of the Customs Act, 1962, has amended the previous notification from January 27, 1987, concerning the customs duty on paper under Chapter 48. The amendment changes the duty rate from a 30 percent ad valorem basis to a specific rate of Rs. 550 per tonne. This change is implemented in the public interest as per Notification No. 8/90-Cus, dated January 25, 1990.
