<h1>Government Raises Basic Customs Duty on Match Splints from 25% to 35% Effective March 20, 1990</h1> The Central Government has amended notification No. 376/85-Customs, dated December 31, 1985, to change the effective rate of basic duty on match splints. Under the powers granted by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962, the amendment replaces the previous duty rate of 25% with a new rate of 35%. This change, effective from March 20, 1990, is made in the public interest as per the government's assessment.
