of <h1>Central Government Sets Basic Customs Duty on Chapter 80 Goods at 55% Ad Valorem, Modifying First Schedule Rates.</h1> Notification No. 91/90-Cus, dated March 20, 1990, issued by the Central Government under the Customs Act, 1962, prescribes effective rates of basic customs duty on goods classified under Chapter 80 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. The notification exempts these goods from the customs duty specified in the First Schedule, reducing it to 55% ad valorem. This exemption applies to all goods under specified headings and sub-headings and does not affect any other existing exemptions granted by the Government of India.
