of <h1>Govt Amends Customs Duty: Glycerol at 80% and Other Chapter 15 Goods at 55% per Notification 240/90-Cus.</h1> The Central Government, under the authority of the Customs Act, 1962, has amended Notification No. 31/89-Customs dated March 1, 1989. The amendment pertains to the basic customs duty for goods under Chapter 15. Specifically, the duty for glycerol (glycerine), whether pure or not, is set at 80% ad valorem, while other goods under the same classification are subject to a 55% ad valorem duty. This change is enacted in the public interest and is documented in Notification No. 240/90-Cus dated September 3, 1990.
