<h1>India Exempts Lactose for Homeopathic Medicines from Certain Customs Duties, Reducing Basic Duty to 15% and Waiving Additional Duty</h1> The Central Government of India exempts lactose, conforming to the Homoeopathic Pharmacopoea of India Specification and imported under sub-heading No. 1702.10, from certain customs duties for the manufacture of homoeopathic medicines. The exemption includes a reduction of the basic customs duty to 15% ad valorem and a full exemption from additional customs duty. Importers must provide an undertaking to use the lactose for the specified purpose, maintain records, and produce certified accounts within three months of importation. Failure to comply will result in the importer paying the difference in duties.
