of <h1>Government Lowers Customs Duty on Certain Instruments Under Customs Act, 1962; Excludes Specific Measuring Devices</h1> The Central Government, under section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962, has issued Notification No. 109/92-Cus. dated March 1, 1992, exempting certain photographic, medical, and measuring instruments from customs duty. The exemption applies to goods specified in the annexed table, which fall under specified headings or sub-headings of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. The exemption reduces the customs duty to 35% ad valorem for instruments other than hydrometers, barometers, hygrometers, psychrometers, and humidistats, as detailed under headings 9025.80, 9031.00, and 9032.81.
