India Exempts Livestock Imports from Customs Duties; Grandparent Poultry Stock Faces 40% Duty Under Notification No. 10/93-Cus
The Central Government of India has issued Notification No. 10/93-Cus dated February 28, 1993, under the Customs Act, 1962, to exempt certain goods specified in Chapter 1 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, from customs duties. The exemption applies to goods such as cows, heifers, bulls, goats, sheep, pigs, angora rabbits, ducklings, and pureline poultry stock, which are exempt from customs duty. However, grandparent poultry stock is subject to a 40% ad valorem duty. This measure is taken in the public interest to regulate customs duties on these specified goods.
