of <h1>Central Government Amends Customs Notifications: Increases Duties in Notifications 188/88, 48/89, 171/90, and 72/91.</h1> The Central Government has amended several customs notifications under the Customs Act, 1962, in the interest of public necessity. Notification No. 188/88-Cus now changes the duty from '50 per cent ad valorem' to '80 per cent ad valorem.' Notification No. 48/89-Cus adjusts the duty from '45% ad valorem' to '50% ad valorem' in three instances. Notification No. 171/90-Cus modifies the duty from 'twenty per cent ad valorem' to 'fifty per cent ad valorem.' Lastly, Notification No. 72/91-Cus changes the duty from '35 per cent ad valorem' to '40 per cent ad valorem.'
