of <h1>Government Exempts Newsprint from Customs Duty Under Notification No. 35/93-Cus for Newspapers, Books, and Periodicals</h1> The Central Government has issued Notification No. 35/93-Cus, dated February 28, 1993, under the Customs Act, 1962, exempting newsprint used for printing newspapers, books, and periodicals from customs duty. This exemption applies to imports falling under heading No. 48.01 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. The decision is made in public interest, removing the entire customs duty on such imports into India.
