<h1>Government Exempts Printed Books, Maps, and Medals from Customs Duty under Notification No. 36/93-Cus</h1> The Central Government, under the Customs Act, 1962, has issued Notification No. 36/93-Cus dated 28-2-1993, fully exempting certain articles from customs duty. This exemption applies to specified goods under Chapters 49 and 97 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. The exempted items include printed books, periodicals, music manuscripts, maps, charts, plans, drawings, designs, postage stamps (used or unused not of current or new issue), and medals. These goods, when imported into India, are exempt from the entire customs duty as specified in the First Schedule of the Customs Tariff Act.
