of <h1>India Imposes 80% Customs Duty on Computers and Peripherals Under Notification No. 65/93-Cus</h1> The Central Government has issued Notification No. 65/93-Cus, dated February 28, 1993, under the Customs Act, 1962, imposing an effective customs duty of 80% ad valorem on computers, computer peripherals (Heading No. 84.71), and their parts and accessories (Sub-heading No. 8473.30). This duty applies to goods imported into India, as specified in the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. The notification is intended to serve the public interest by regulating the import duties on these specified items.
