of <h1>Customs Duty Exemption for Power Plant Equipment: Chapters 84, 85, 90, Subject to Conditions Under Notification 86/93-Cus.</h1> Notification No. 86/93-Cus, dated February 28, 1993, issued under the Customs Act, 1962, exempts goods under Chapters 84, 85, and 90 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, from customs duties exceeding 20% ad valorem and additional duties when imported for power plant renovation or modernization. Conditions for this exemption include certification by a Central Electricity Authority officer that the project has techno-economic clearance, recommendation by a Deputy Secretary in the Department of Power, and an undertaking by the importer to use the goods as specified, with penalties for non-compliance.
