of <h1>Government Amends Notification to Impose 5% Duty on Rough Wood Imports from Burma under Customs Act, 1962, Sl. No. 29A.</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 280/76-Customs, dated August 2, 1976, under the Customs Act, 1962. This amendment, issued on March 22, 1993, introduces a new entry, Sl. No. 29A, to the existing notification. The amendment specifies that imports of wood in the rough and wood roughly squared and half squared, but not further manufactured, from Burma will now be subject to a 5% ad valorem duty. This change is deemed necessary in the public interest.
