Government Amends Customs Notifications to Enhance Oversight of Export Units in Tech Parks, Allowing Re-export & Shared Infrastructure Use
The Central Government amended Notification Nos. 138/91-Cus. and 140/91-Cus. under the Customs Act, 1962, to address public interest. The amendments involve changes to the Inter-Ministerial Standing Committee's role, now overseeing Export Oriented Units in Electronics Hardware and Software Technology Parks. New conditions allow the Collector of Customs to permit re-export of goods with approval from the Chief Executive of the Software Technology Park or the Standing Committee. Additionally, imported telematic infrastructure can be used for software export by other development units. These changes are effective as of Notification No. 161/93-Cus., dated August 16, 1993.
