of <h1>India Cuts Customs Duty on Viscose Staple Fibre to 25% Under Notification 44/94-Cus for Public Interest</h1> The Central Government, under the authority of the Customs Act, 1962, has issued Notification No. 44/94-Cus dated March 1, 1994. This notification exempts viscose staple fibre and tows, classified under Chapter 55 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, from a portion of the customs duty. Specifically, when these goods are imported into India, they are subject to a reduced customs duty rate of 25% ad valorem, instead of the full rate specified in the Customs Tariff Act. This exemption is deemed necessary in the public interest.
