of <h1>Customs Duty Update: Pyrophyllite Blocks Now Subject to 40% Ad Valorem Under Amended Notification No. 77/90-Customs.</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 77/90-Customs dated March 20, 1990, under the Customs Act, 1962. This amendment, effective from March 1, 1994, adds a new entry to the existing table in the notification. The new entry, listed as Sl. No. 2, pertains to pyrophyllite blocks under Chapter 69, which will now be subject to a 40% ad valorem customs duty. This change is deemed necessary in the public interest by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue.
