<h1>India Exempts Imported Tourist Vehicles from Certain Duties with Conditions; Valid Until February 28, 1995</h1> The notification, effective from March 1, 1994, exempts air-conditioned cars and coaches imported into India by specified importers for tourist transport from certain customs duties. The exemption includes a reduction of customs duty to 50% ad valorem and a waiver of additional duties, subject to conditions. Importers must provide a certificate from the Director General of Tourism and an undertaking not to sell or transfer the vehicles for five years, use them for tourist transport, and pay any duty differences if conditions are breached. The vehicles' C.I.F. value must not exceed US $35,000 for cars and US $100,000 for coaches. The notification is valid until February 28, 1995.
