Medical Equipment Spare Parts Get 15% Customs Duty; Excludes Circuit Boards, Ball Bearings as per Notification No. 124/94-Cus.
Spare parts for medical equipment, excluding printed circuit boards and ball bearings, are subject to a 15% customs duty as per Notification No. 124/94-Cus dated June 3, 1994. The exemption applies when these parts are imported for maintaining specific medical equipment categories under the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. Importers must provide an undertaking to the Assistant Collector of Customs that the parts will be used as specified and produce evidence within three months. Failure to comply may result in the importer paying the difference between the standard duty and the reduced rate.
