of <h1>Government Ends Duty Exemption on Leather Industry Chemicals; Imposes 20% Duty per Customs Notification No. 164/94-Cus.</h1> The Central Government has withdrawn the exemption from countervailing duty on certain leather industry goods under Notification No. 164/94-Cus., dated September 2, 1994. This change imposes an effective duty of 20% on 24 newly listed chemicals. The amendment to the original notification No. 45/94-Customs dated March 1, 1994, removes the exemption of additional duty under section 3 of the Customs Tariff Act. The newly affected chemicals include items such as Lactic Casein, Titanium Dioxide, and various other chemical compounds, which are now subject to the standard duty rate.
